Adult ADHD, anxiety, insomnia, help!? |
I was recently diagnosed with ADHD which makes perfect sense. I am 35 and I suffer all of the above. I just started my new medication Vyvanse and I feel great in the day (Have only been taking it two days) but at night I get so restless, I get irritable and I also have no appetite. Anyone with experience with ADHD and the above please help. I have never been on a stimulant before. Vyvanse is just a slightly different non-generic reformulation of Adderall. I have been talking Adderall for 2 years. The trick with these medications is finding the right med, the right dosage and the right schedule (when to take it). You want enough in your system to get the benefit but you also want it out of your system so you can get some sleep. I was the same way when I started my meds. It usually subsides in a few weeks. If it doesn't talk to your doc about switching meds. I found Adderall workes best for me. yep, welcome to the wonderful world of adhd! just dont take stratera because it sucks drink a lot of water but you should give it at least two weeks to get use to it. if the problem continues then maybe you could try a sleep aid I am not familiar with this particular medication. I know that Ritalin is effective in treating children because it is a stimulant which has a paradoxical effect. However, as an adult, the stimulant is a stimulant. I'm glad to know that it is working for you during the day, but if it is keeping you awake at night, please notify your M.D. so that adjustments can be made. It is not worth it if you are not getting adequate sleep at night. It's going to take a wk or two to get the meds working correctly. So I suggest that you call and tell your doctor about not sleeping. He can get you something to help sleep. The restlessness, irritabilty, insomnia and appetite is from the ADHD and anxiety. Also if the anxiety is too much ask for something to help with that. He will probably only do it if it is too much(anxiety medication) not a lot of drs like to give alot of meds but he will give for not sleeping. promise! Are they immediate release. I take Adderall which is a stimulant for ADHD. It lasts 4 hours, so I take it as needed. I work from 3-11PM, so I take my last one at 7PM. If it is extended release, meaning you take one each day, you might want to take it earlier in the day. With the advice of your doctor you take some anti-anxolents like 'Trika', contents of which is barbiturates, which will give you a relaxation for your mental worries. Your appetation will be triggered, when you are free from your tensions. |
