ADHD Medicine?

Hi im 12 and i am ADHD. Im recently taking medicine, it blanks me out. It is 20 mils my mom said she will chng to 10 because 20, makes me so tired i feel like i have to throw up,i get to sleepy,i get bad head aches. Is this normal? My docter, shes a idiot she said im getting used to it. IV'E BEEN TAKING MEDICINE SENSE I WAS LIKE 4 MAYBE! HELP

A lot of us with ADHD (I have it too) have to adjust how much we take every now and thin. I got used to Ritalin and had to take a little more because I did get used to it, I have had to take less because it kept me awake. You need to tell your mom and your doctor all you feel so that they all can help you find the right balance and schedule on when to take the pill or pills.

Sleep is very important and if you are sleepy during the day (on Ritalin) then that tells me you are not getting enough sleep at night. You need to make sure you get a lot of sleep because even with the medication and not enough sleep, you will still not be helped.

The medicine shouldn't give you bad headaches.

I am so sorry...I know how you feel. ADHD medicine sometimes has side effects like that. Talk to them (your doctor and parents), express your concerns. If you don't feel like you need the medication, if you feel like you can deal without it, don't take it. It can seriously screw you up, and make you dependent on it. That's what's happened to me...I sincerely wish you luck with this problem. Take care...

Stop taking it. Speed is not good for you. It will mess with your brain.

You poor thing, my son takes 7 mg of ritalin in the morning and 5 at lunch, but his does not zone him out - it helps him control his actions. Any medicine is not supposed to blank you out - it is supposed to help you control your energy so you can think straight. If you have those symptoms, tell your mom that she needs to take you to a different pediatrician - because those symptons are NOT normal at all. Good Luck Baby - and don't give up!!

I used to take "Ritalin", and after wards "Concerta". so I know how you feel. I always felt like a zombie (besides feeling sick all the time and having no appetite). and it also depends on what type (light, middle or heavily concerned) you are. maybe you should try something different, like an other medicine or a therapy or something like that. I'm not sure if a sudden stop could make it even worse (depends on type), try it for one week, and then decide what to do.

I have ADHD Also and this medicine your taking only has side affects, (Check the bottle) I may seem on how i act like im depressed or maybe a bit mental. But i'm not and never will be (I hope) The side affects of my medicine are feeling Nauseous Loss of apatite stomach ache, And they all passed, Me being a nervous person i shake and i always feel nauseous and loss of apatite, But it will pass. If it doesn't maybe you're on a too high dose, Always try a lower dose and move higher. I got from concerta and just kept going, now im on the second dose of... Well im not sure the name but its working fine. Just don't get too nervouse like me. Don't worry about it. Maybe take some other meds too help you through like what i took. I came home with a fever and it was the meds. Just try and try agian!
