What kind of career will allow me to work hands-on with people with disabilities like autism, ADHD, etc.?

Is there a kind of therapist that works with these type of people? Im not talking about a typical psychologist. (From what I've heard, all they do is basically prescribe drugs and do surgery). What I want to do is more like a sort of hands-on, involved approach. I know I must sound kind of vague, but what kind of doctor does that, and how do I become one?

Psychiatrists have a doctor's degree and can prescribe drugs. Psychologists, on the other hand, can only provide counceling.

Educators.

Hi, you might want to try being an ADD/ADHD coach! You can get trained in organisation such as the "ADD Coach Academy." (http://www.addca.com/) Here's a tiny bit that I picked up from their front-page: "The ADD Coach Academy provides the gold standard " in ADD /ADHD Coach Training. The classes are taught by professional, Master Certified Coaches dedicated to insuring each coachs success.."

Good luck.
