I lost 6 lbs in a week without trying, do you think it's because of my ADHD medication (Concerta)?

I started taking Concerta last week, and I'm down 6 lbs and I've been getting the same amount of exercise and eating the same amount as before I started taking Concerta. Does anyone know how much longer this will continue? Now I am 5'3" and 114 lbs (I used to be 120 lbs). I'm afraid if this goes on much longer I will be underweight? I'm 15 years old. Anyone have any suggestions?

Normally I would be fine with this weight loss except that I'm not just losing fat I'm also losing muscle...and lately I've been feeling weaker.

But talk to your parents and the doc as soon as you can. that don't sound healthy and you are right to be concerned. Alsways ask the docs questions. good luck

My little sister took ADHD medicine and has lost a lot of weight (except shes 7 years old) this can be potentially dangerous. You might want to reduce the amount you exercise and eat more even though you dont have an appetite. Otherwise, PLEASE go see your doctor to let him/her know whats going on.

Laura B, I agree with DL that you should see your doc (the one who prescribed you the ADHD meds) to get an expert opinion. Losing weight too fast has its potential downside, so its best to err on the side of caution.
