Child with ADHD and PTSD?.....?

Would you medicate or try find natural solution for child?? The Pediatrican has tried Seraquil and Respirol.....didn't help at all....now wants to try Prozac......I'm a little hesitant anyone been in this boat?

He has been for a pysch eval....she diag.'d him....recommended medicating....he already goes to counseling..........he's a great kid but has been through some tough stuff with bio parents and bio family........I'm trying to work on this with him so he can work through it and not just block what going on in his head with a pill................

Seroquel and Risperdol. I don't know how old this child is, but those seem like pretty strong drugs to give anyone under 18.

Try to find a pediatric psychiatrist or neurologist.

A number of important aspecs of our society have been weeded out as uneccesary that have fundamentally removed the boundaries that keep children in line. Coupled with responsible but passive parenting some children grow up not having a line they fear to cross. As they grow they will discover this boundaries and self-improve. Doctors and Phsycologists know this but prefer to dispense pills.

Seek a specialist...child psychiatrist...to diagnosis and treat your child...for mental health issues. kjl

Do you mean Seraquil or Seroquel (Quietapine fumarate)? Respirol or Risperdal (Risperidone)? While I don't have any drug info on a Seraquil, Respirol (Albuterol) is an asthma treatment.

Regardless, rather than moving your child to Prozac (Fluoxetine), I'd suggest consulting a professional psychiatrist. While your pediatrician means well, it's unlikely that he/she's been given any extensive training in psychiatric medicine. Particularly with children, this can lead to problems. A psychiatrist might suggest you look into SSRIs such as Prozac, Zoloft (Sertraline), Paxil (Paroxetine), or Luvox (fluvoxamine). It's also possible a psychiatrist might simply suggest a "talk" therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, or a combination of drugs and therapy. Regardless, you'll be getting a much more experienced opinion than what you'll get from your pediatrician.

A further update, since you've added new details. Talk to the person who did the psych evaluation about finding a good Cognitive Behavioral Therapist. It's a well researched, highly effective "talk" therapy that could be very useful. Further, make sure you share your concerns with the prescribing pediatrician and your child's counselor.
