Adhd my son has it will he get worse as he gets older?

my 8 year old son has got adhd

my son is on meds for it

Sadly it can get worse and i have to say you are lucky to have him on meds ...

I am still fighting for meds and my son is in a special school .

Go to your gp and let them know you are struggling and i know it sounds crap but try social services as they do offer family support workers

Edit my son has not grown out of it it just gets worse and now he has other disorders

Carol, I think one lingering thing on your mind is whether your son can outgrow adhd, right? If that is the case, then read this article here:

As a concerned parent, browse the sections on "adhd vitamins" and "adhd diet" too, as it may hasten his recovery.

Good luck.

i am 25 years old and have adult adhd. It doesn't necessarily get worse, the symptoms just change. It can sometimes be easy to overcome or hard, it all depends on the person.

there is a forum that you should check out called www.addforums.com
they have a lot of useful information there for parents with kids that have it and from adults that have it. give it a look :)

My sister has it and i remember when we were little she was really bad they put her on something which i think was called ritelin it ws good but made her loose alot of weight
now she refuses any help and she just causes havvoc in our community although if you manage him right the outcome depends on the seriousness of his condition anyway its very difficult having someone in the family like this but patience is always better im not really sure how to answer your question completley because my sister went through alot like our family couldnt cope so she was put in a care home so this could add to her problems.

You should find a therapist that does neurofeedback. This will train your sons brain to be more normal and he may no longer need the medicine. It's just that it does take time. It can also be fun because they have video games designed to work with it. take a look at this website for neurofeedback:

Try this site too:

in most cases ive known adhd can become an extremely serious illness your best seekin medical help with this there are tablets and councilling to help children wit adhd do not let it get out ov control more than it already is all the best

depending on how it is dealt with, he may not have it when he is older
try to see a naturopath they can be helpful in a natural way

They usually get worse for until there teen years and then grow out of it.
