Is ADHD a dominant genetic trait?

We're going to have a child this Christmas and I have ADHD in a horrible way. I have had it since early childhood but have since recognized it and with the help of my wife have kind of gotten a lid on it. We've got it to the point that it's manageable and I have to wonder--

Is ADHD a dominant genetic trait? Please, show your source as the sooner I know, the better.

please take the time to visit each site...it may be of some GREAT help in finding your answer!

i wish you and yours best wishes

Research also shows parents, siblings and children of people with ADHD may be up to five times more likely to have the disorder than people who aren't related to someone with ADHD. More than half of all parents with ADHD will have a child with the disorder.

It has YET to be conclusively proven- that ADHD is a genetic trait. So there's no way of knowing one way or the other if your Child will have it... Seeing as how YOU seem to be functioning reasonably well with it, I don't think you really have much to worry about (& for many OTHER reasons, BESIDES that one...). So good luck with Your Blessed Event over the Holidays! :)
