ADHD questions???

I have a child with a diagnosis of ADHD. He is medicated, takes Vyvance, it's a new one. Do you believe that the diagnosis of ADHD is a real diagnosis or a generic one made when the doctor doesn't know what's wrong? Do you think it's over diagnosed?
My answer is Yes I believe that adhd does exist, my son can not sit still for 60 seconds so he takes meds. I do however, think that it is overly diagnosed, and there are children who are just acting like kids and do not need the meds...

Ritalin was the first one they tried, my son thought he had bugs on him. He is doing well now. He was having awful problems at school, much better now. Yes I agree young children are very hyper. I have an 11 yo as well. My child was in addition to being extremely hyper he was also very impulsive, so much so that he has almost gotten himself very hurt.

true in some cases. i am 17 and have taken aderal, ridelin, methadate,(curently taking). and it does help adhd is genetic, my mom had it and i have it not including add, ocd, and bi poler. but some kids just act like it to be on meds and docter dont see past that.plus they dont see that some of that med will mix you up.plus some and most of all adhd med or any other meds are so harmfull. so be carefull. i stoped taking it b/c i have learned how to control my prob. but i think kids should not be madicated. let them be them

Ritalin or Ritilin, is a terible drug, I have heard that teachers in America can get children put on this drug if she/he thinks the child is unruly. Big Pharma love this idea, as they make $millions out of it, doctors are favour too, for pushing this rubbish.

Ritalin. This drig of choice for children diagnosed with Attention Deficicient Hyperactivity Syndrome (ADHS), the latest name for the hyperactive child, can cause seizures in susceptible children, and more.

I was one of the early cases of ADHD in America in 1984. I was on Ritilin from 84-86 and then 1991-1998. This is my theory on ADD...

It is the evolution of man-kind. It is the brain adapting to the enviroment. There is more for a kid to absorb in today's world than in any other time in human history. The television is the primary reason for this. ADD is the evolution of a human's ability to mulitask, or concentrate on several different things at once. Of COURSE a six year old is going to have a difficult time devoloping these skills!!! Can a six year old lift 200 pounds or run a 40 meter dash in 5 seconds??? The brain is a muscle too, and what ADD medication does is limits to mulitasking ability a person has, and person young or old. It limits their ultimate potential in order to get them to sit through a 3rd grade lesson plan. Pretty stupid in my opinion, and I have learned to live a healthy life with a decent career without medication.

It is verymuch over diagnosed. I also must say that i think in many children 'OVERACTIVNESS' or 'HYPERACTIVITY' is a natural thing and dose not and should not be medicated. Some medications (almost all adhd medications) carry risk for furthured mental illness after extended periods of time taking the med... be very carfull on how you medicate your child.

ADHD is a chemical in balance in your brain and the med's they have out today helps that , kids will act like kids regardless with drugs or not . I had my son on med for adhd and it took his grades from being a d,f, student to a b,a,student and still acts as normal as a kid should be.

I know of someone whos child has ADHD and they gave her Tunguska every day (1oz in the morning before schoold and 1oz after school).

The teachers started seeing great results with her behavior and grades.

She no longer takes the drugs prescribed and she is just the best behave child I ahv ever met.

Here's the website you might want to try it.....its all natural and non-toxic so won't even hurt her at all.....

MissMell, I'm glad your son is now doing alright. Eventhough he is on meds, it would be good to complement this by ensuring he has a well-balanced diet and stay away from junk. Studies have shown that nutrient deficiency can really mess up a kid's ability in the area of behaviour and learning. You can see what kind of vitamins or diet he needs here:
