her dr just keeps giving her different meds and doesnt really seem to care!

Go to a doctor! Preferably a psychologist or psychiatrist.

Go back to the doctor. She may have needed a dose adjustment. There are other medications. She needs to be evaluated again. Obviously both extremes of behavior that you mention are not good for her.

wow. talk to the DOCTOR...

First of all, you should have researched the drugs. Bad Bad parent for not doing your homework.

These stimulant medications really cause some serious problems. Many times, OCD develops in a person that has these medications. People try to say that the medication supresses the ADHD and so the OCD comes out.

It's a complete lie.

I "suppressed" my symptoms with diet change and a liquid and vitamin supplement and I don't have OCD.

I'm not sure what kind of diet your daughter has, but I suggest you consider the same thing.

Feel free to contact me with your questions.

Talk with pdoc obviously, get his/her opinion. You know, I think parents should have to take the same drugs they let doctors shove down their Children's throat. That way, you get the "real feel" about these anti physcotics. I know, I've spent the better part of two years on them, and let me tell you, they are life altering. I'm glad to say I am being weaned off them with care, and I honestly feel like a veil is being lifted from my mind. I think sometimes the cure for these "maladies" is worse than the disease. Anyway, you need to get with her doctor, quickly, and maybe get a second opinion as to what issues she may have, other than being an overactive 6 year old, and seriously, do the drugs she is doing just to see what their like.

And if you have a doctor who you think does not care, then find one who does!

Before taking her off the meds you really should have spoken to whichever doctor it was that put her on them. (I'm assuming you didn't, so sorry if I'm wrong)

This is just a suggestion, but it sounds to me to be a little like the manic 'high' in bipolar disorder, due to her not sleeping. Mania can also be irritable - which could explain her backchatting you - and can have psycosis (hallucinations). It seems to be more and more common that children with ADHD re put on medication which sends them into a manic high and are then diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

Either way, please make an appointment as soon as possible with her doctor. In the meantime, just try to keep her inside and safe from harm.

EDIT: I recommend you get a second opinion straight away from a different doctor, as it sounds like the one you're with doesn't seem to be very sympathetic.

All the best.

These are VERY powerful amphetamine derived drugs, and I am of the opinion that 6 years old may just be too young. No 6 year old should be hallucinating from drugs.

Her brain is still forming, and ADHD can be controlled sometimes much better by diet (no sugar, caffeine, simple carbs, or preservatives) and exercise.

It seems to me that you should get her off the meds (slowly and under a doc's supervision) since they are very addictive and harmful, and try going to another therapist for a second opinion. ADHD is very overdiagnosed these days. My nephew was diagnosed, but then saw someone else who got him on a healthy diet and he is more normal now!

You can also do an internet search on natural remedies for ADHD.
