Question for people with ADD/ ADHD? |
I have recently been diagnose with ADD and was put on ritalin last saturday. I have lost a substantial about of weight on it and i am up to 17.5 mg. I talked to a friend who has it and he said it takes about a week to kick in. Well, it has been about a week for me and i dont think i have noticed any difference. I am so positive i have it because i have all the symptoms and my parents, friends, and both my psychologist and my psychiatrist believe i have it. But is there any chance that i dont have it? or why else would the ritalin not me working for me? Also, how am i supposed to actually KNOW if i am feeling it?? I really really badly want to feel a difference and i really want it to work. why isnt it working!? My little sister has A.D.H.D. Medication made her behavior a lot worse. What works on one person, does not necessarily work on another. There is a small possibility that you do not have it, and that you were misdiagnosed, but with to-days technology, misdiagnosis are rare. Give your medication a month, and if you still can not see an improvement, then perhaps it is not suitable for you and you should try something else. Just keeping trying different ones until you find something that works for you. Remember, medications take a while to kick in and become effective so do not expect any overnight changes. It may also be easier for people around you to notice the change in your behavior then it will be for you. What is your diet like ? A lot of people believe that a persons diet can affect their behavior. All these artificial coloring and flavorings are not good for you. Apparently, according to research, they can make you hyperactive, especially if you have A.D.H.D or Autism. Although, personally, i do not believe in all that. Good luck. There are herbal teas and supplements that can help instead of taking drugs. But you have to find out what works for you because everyone is different. I would also get a second doctors opinion. Doctors are over prescribing this medicine and it has become big money and big business. So, get a 2nd opinion and find what works for you. Dont Panic- You'll Be Just Fine ;) my brother had ADD as a child but my dad cured it with the belt. |
