Parental "convenience" and ADHD kids?

If I as step-mom arrange and pay for an activity for my husband's ADHD Bi-Polar child... (Equine Assisted Therapy) does that mean the parents are relieved of all responsibility of the child attending and participating in that activity?

Does that mean that I am to be responsible for the child every night that Dad is working because it's "inconvenient" for the mom to bring him over early in the morning on days he participates in his equine assisted therapy... and Dad doesn't want to spend the gas money to take him there?

So now if the child is to continue with this therapy I am solely responsible for seeing that the child gets there, that means I'm the live-in Nanny and ranch taxi because it's not "convenient" for the parents to help-out.

Am I wrong to feel taken advantage of in this situation?

My husband asked me to take the child to the ranch--- because of behavioral problems at home with his mother. His mother is supportive of the therapy. Neither of them are willing to help out with transportation, because it's not "convenient" for them.
Therefore leaving me with the entire package.

I do think its commendable that you are doing this for your stepson, especially if its really helping him.

I guess you have two choices here. People cannot take advantage of you unless you let them. Your first choice is if you are feeling like you are being taken advantage of, its simple - stop taking your stepson, and see if either parent steps up to the plate.

Your second choice is you just continue taking him, and do it for the good of the child. You can go to bed at night knowing that you made a difference in a child's life.

You could also try talking to your husband and tell him how you feel if you think it would make a difference.

Good luck!

I'd say if you were the one who signed him up for this program then I guess the burden's on you.
