Just diagnosed with ADHD inattentive type (I'm 20 and in college)? |
I was just re-examined since I was diagnosed at 7 but went through middle and high school without treatment because I was doing ok in school. Also I have an ok number of friends but I tend to be socially awkward sometimes. Like somedays I'm confident and outgoing and I just feel like I"m in it an I interact a lot with the same people and other days I'm very quiet in the same social setting or when I'm out with friends and my mind is elsewhere and It's like I'm out of it. Is that part of ADHD? There are many ways to get organized with ADHD, including using to-do lists, timers, calendars/planners, etc. You can start to see a therapist this summer...then treatment for your ADHD in the Fall. You'll be amazed! kjl well there are medicines to help but this doesnt stop you from being great remember that ben franklin and bill gates were both diagnosed with this its normal with adhd I know how you feel. Its good to hear im not the only one. I'm starting college classes this fall....hopefully I'll be able to cope. I'm always fantasizing. My mind is always somewhere else. I was diagnosed in 1st grade dr.s put me on ritilin and i went years never missing a day of school and making strait A's in every subject. Then the dumb dr takes me off of the medicine that was helping me and I crumble. I think I can cope better now with it. Hopefully no medicine needed this time. I have ADHD or what ADD. I figit like crazy. What I do is I play with silly puddy during class in order to stop my figity behavior. The reason why people with ADHD figit is because that's how they pay attention. They say mediation is the most effective thing. I'm still in High School and they didn't catch onto it until this year however I'm doing fairly well so there is no problems. Although it's hard for me to concentrate on schoolwork, I can spend many hours on the computer. Honestly, if it is effecting your schoolwork, I would talk to a psychiatrist about going on medication. |
