Employer says my "ADHD medicatoin is Dangerous", and I could lose my job?

Hello there..

I want to get people's opinions, and somehow get the word out about what my work is doing. I have been recently told by my employer, KFC, that my ADHD medication is "Dangerous", and they are looking into ways to preventing me from working, because I take my medication while at work.

Last night I sent an email to some local newspapers, and radio stations, hopefully to get the word out.

I am also involved with a Human Rights case against my employer.

I hope there are some decent people out there, that would like to help in this cause, to protect people from employers like this.

I live in London, Ontario, I'm 24, and I could lose my job because I take medication while at work.

LETS MAKE SOME NOISE PEOPLE!!!

We can't let KFC, or any employer do this.

That (your medical condition and treatment) is for your DOCTOR to determine, not a manager of a fast food restaurant.

If you are on a *prescibed* medication (in this case I assume Ritalin), and use it accordinging (and your condition is controlled by this medication), they have no grounds to prevent you from working.

Assuming you have never had a severe reaction to your medication on the job and/or put people/property in harm's way, I would think Canadian law should protect you here in this case.

Go ahead and file your complaint. Draw attention to your case, take the money/settlement, and then leave. I would never return to work for such an ill-informed company. Educate them and move on. They have no right to *assume* without evidence or knowledge.

Good luck!

I would want to know where they got their info from. I know some of the meds can cause heart issues, but usually in people with a preexisting condition. These meds have a black box warning on them, or at least they do in the US.

Sue the socks off em!!
