Illness has calmed my ADHD son!?

My 10 year old has ADHD.
Two weeks ago he had tonsillitus and spent
1st day being sick and sleeping,
next 2 days sleeping,
and 3rd day awake but inactive and didn't eat much till day 5!

He's still got some symptoms after two weeks and i'm not surprised he took a long time to recover.

It's wonderfull though!
He has been so well behaved in comparison, done well at school (not just keeping out of trouble but doing good work)

Every night this week he has been reading!!!!
He's a very good reader and learned easily but cannot sit and focus on a book usually, though he loves to collect them.

I usually restrict his intake of artificial colours flavours and sweetners and we have a lot of natural ingredients so it's not like he had a detox from e numbers.

Has anyone else had this experience?
Any idea how to replicate this wiothout him having to be ill again?
Do you think this is a good indicater that he may respond well to medication? (he is not on any yet)

Hi Les, its wonderful that your son is doing well. Positive news is always good news anyway. Well, his turnaround could be due to the illness or maybe not. It could be due to the food also. May I suggest you do an "audit" of the kind of food he takes before he became ill and the ones he is taking now. Think hard. It may be the puzzle you are looking for. Just my two cents worth of opinion.

Have a nice day Les, and may your son enjoy good health always.

Yes, if he has ADHD, get medication for it? That's kind of a no-brainer.... It will make your life and his life a hell of a lot easier.
