Can adhd get worse as you get older?

i was diagnosed with mild adhd at the age of two, i never recieved any meds for it, my parents told me about this when i was ten and only then i realised while i was different from most of the kids in my class, people always labelled me as lazy and stuff and it annoyed me alot. well anyway i never saw it as a problem before but since starting my gcses and becoming a happier and more sociaible person ive been overly happy most of the time and very hyper randomly going crazy and hi-fiving people, talking loadz more, im quite impuslve i hate waiting my turn and i often snap at ppl easily and stuff. the worst part is the concentration its reli frustrating because i cant absorb any of the info or anything!! im listenin but it dosent stick and so people think im not listening!! and other times i cant help but wander off and daydream, i cant do any homework because i just avoid it until its too late, and when i have essays to write i find it so hard to keep focused and i have to constantyl

tlk to firends and get thier advise. im not stupid or nothing, im the top sets in my year group and maintaining c's and b's eventhough im such a distraction to everyone and the fact i cant pay attention at all lol.

my parents dont EVER talk about it like an avoided issue, teachers notice that i get bored easy and dont focuse, but they are not aware cz my parents just havent told anyone!!

well i wanna know: what can i do about this?
does it look like its getting worse?
and how can i calm down and get focusing??

my parents refused meds back then and i dont want them neither, i wanna be able to settle it on my own but i need techiniqes to sort it without relying on drugs. ta :)

When I was ten they put me on ritalin and it helped me through school, but by the time I was 17 I hated being on meds and never remembered to take them anyway, so I went off of them. No biggie.

Just be aware of the problem and make a concientious effort to fix it. I have no problem concentrating in classes at college now because I learned how to cope with it. Usually having a squishy ball or some change to toy with in your hand is enough of a distraction that you can concentrate better. As far as being hyper, how old are you? It's probably a phase that you'll grow out of as you get older.

For homework, while your in school you may want to consider talking to a doc about medication. It won't help you stop procrastinating though, just make a schedule and get a relative or buddie to help you keep it. Or make a rewards system for yourself. For every homework you do on time you can _______ or something.

You would never know I have adhd now, because I've learned how to focus with it. Usually I just need to multitask or play with something in my hands and I'm calm and fine. Dont let it get the best of you, and also don't let it be an excuse ever for laziness or procrastination. Just overcome it.

Krazykid, since you are not keen on meds right now, take a look at this:

Another thing you can do, in case you are not keen on exercising, is to take up one and do it REGULARLY.

Good luck.

well, this is a start. You opened up yourself to someone,

I know this might sound like a stupid response, but remember when I say this, " JUST FOCUS "

And even though you say that you have trouble focusing, then the good thing is that you are aware that is your focusing that is stopping you from some of the normal activities.

Key word is here, "FOCUS"

Just remember my response!! The key word is "FOCUS"

Try this today, repeat the word focus to yourself several times through out the day, all day. Focus, Focus, Focus, Focus.
