Help with ADHD?

was diagnosed with mild adhd at the age of two, i never recieved any meds for it, my parents told me about this when i was ten and only then i realised while i was different from most of the kids in my class, people always labelled me as lazy and stuff and it annoyed me alot. well anyway i never saw it as a problem before but since starting my gcses and becoming a happier and more sociaible person ive been overly happy most of the time and very hyper randomly going crazy and hi-fiving people, talking loadz more, im quite impuslve i hate waiting my turn and i often snap at ppl easily and stuff. the worst part is the concentration its reli frustrating because i cant absorb any of the info or anything!! im listenin but it dosent stick and so people think im not listening!! and other times i cant help but wander off and daydream, i cant do any homework because i just avoid it until its too late, and when i have essays to write i find it so hard to keep focused and i have to constantyl

tlk to firends and get thier advise. im not stupid or nothing, im the top sets in my year group and maintaining c's and b's eventhough im such a distraction to everyone and the fact i cant pay attention at all lol.

my parents dont EVER talk about it like an avoided issue, teachers notice that i get bored easy and dont focuse, but they are not aware cz my parents just havent told anyone!!

well i wanna know: what can i do about this?
does it look like its getting worse?
and how can i calm down and get focusing??

my parents refused meds back then and i dont want them neither, i wanna be able to settle it on my own but i need techiniqes to sort it without relying on drugs. ta :)

im 16 lol! and ppl compare me to an over-energetic 12yr old!! :S

My Step son has adhd, and is managed by medication, when he takes his medication he is a "normal" teenager but when he doesnt he has a bit of an attitude and very hyper. Why not talk to a doctor or a third party to discuss your options to you.

Find if there is some technique you can learn to calm yourself when you feel your hyperacticty is coming on, discuss the options of medicine before you totally rule it out. They could change your life.
Best of luck

There are medications that can help. Concerta is one that is very effective and it is dosed out in 9 mg intervals so it can be adjusted to exactly what you need. It is safe and effective since they start with the lowest dose possible and work up until it is at an effective level. It requires a doctor's script, so that may be why your parents don't want to get you this treatment. It can be expensive. However, you should insist that they do something to get you treated. It isn't something that you can just grow out of. Many adults have it and never get treatment for whatever reasons they have. Then they wonder why their lives aren't as productive as they could have been. You are being robbed of being able to function at your best because of their not getting you the help you need. If your parents won't get you the help you need, go to your school counselor and see if there is a way for the school medical people to help you.
