What are some food additives/ingrediants to avoid when one has ADHD?

Hello "Hi I'm Sal Governale."

I can't help but laughing just saying Sal's name. Too funny!

While some people are correct in saying that food additives and ingredients do not cause ADHD, there are some that can make symptoms appear worse.

That is an important distinction to be aware of.

I would be careful of too much sugar, and certain dyes. There are thought to be some common dyes to avoid - but the best advice is to watch what your child eats - to be aware of what dyes your child eats (and reacts to), and then carefully remove some from his or her diet.

Think of it like the advice you get when introducing new foods to an infant. Only introduce one new food every few days - watching for a reaction or allergy.

Just a thought...

I have heard a lot about Gluten-free diets. True ADHD will not respond to a gluten-free diet.

Good luck

This is a pretty controversial issue but a recent study concluded that nearly everyone benefits from removing food additives from their diet. No particular culprits have been found however.

If it is true ADHD then foods wont affect it.

Some people who are allergic to some foods might have symptoms that look like ADHD but aren't ADHD.

ADHD is not a food allergy.

Some people find removing gluten from their diet effective.

Caffeine & sugar I would imagine
