How can I relax with adhd? |
I find it extremely difficult to just sit down and relax or get to sleep. When I try to i get really fidgity and hyper. i dont really want to try meds or any of the herbal stuff though. ive tried stress balls and those dont do much. music doesnt seem to help either. it just seems the longer i sit and try to relax the more hyper i get. i dont really want to talk to a doctor either becuase i cant afford one. does anyone have any suggestions? Yeah i have ADHD too. Try reading before u sleep, doing something REALLY active before u sleep. UMM to help focus try eating/chewing something hard or sucking on something hard(jolly ranchers, gum, pretzels, frozen peas). To calm down u can also try blowing through a straw. And if ur in class and need to fidget try squeezing some silly putty or something similar. GOOD LUCK Watching a video tape of an aquarium can help to relax you at bedtime. People with ADHD have a difficult time stopping all of their thoughts when it is bedtime. I know that you are opposed to medications. However, medication can be used on a trial basis just to determine the effects. You might find that it is helpful since some people with ADHD sleep better if they take a small dose 30 minutes prior to bedtime. If you want to relax you first have to eliminate what is causing or making your adhd.
