Has anyone ever heard of a loophole in the ADHD restrictions for joining the military?

I know that in recent years the Department of Defense has loosened it's regulations stating that if you can remain off your meds for over a year without showing signs of problems occuring, you can join (provided you can produce the necessary documentation).

However, I know that I won't be able to go off my medication. I've tried and I can manage just fine, but I am simply not as effective as I should be. I don't stop functioning by any means, but the medicine increases my ability to focus and by extension, be a more effective problem-solver, technician, or anything else I may need to be. I know the worry is that the medicine may somehow become unavailable, but if this is true, why let medicated people with depression join? The same could happen to them.

In short, has anybody found a way personally, or know of some way I could join the military (preferably USMC), without giving up my medication?

You have to be medication-free for one year prior to your physical exam. You also have to demonstrate documented good academic or job performance during that one year period of being medication-free. The source below is the medical standard.
People with depression are not allowed entry in the armed forces. So, those who are on medication for it do not get to enlist.

if you cannot function normally without meds, your physically and permanently disqualified from militray service. period.

just how would you feel if you lost all yorur meds in the middle of a deployment and somebody got KILLED because you weren't as effective a soldier as you should have been?!

militray service is not a right, it's a privilege and trying to beat the systenm for yourown selfish desires is un cool and can get people killed.

If you want to join the Marines you have to be off all ADHD medication for a minimum of a year. As long as you can function off of it you should be fine.

The army will let you join, but you're going to have to give up your meds.
