Your child with ADD/ ADHD?

Just wondering becaue when I was a kid I was on Ritalin, and later on my little brother was on Adderall. How do you feel about those drugs for ADD or ADHD? I hated taking those meds when i was little and now that I have a child I could never imagine giving her those types of medicines....I remember how jacked up I felt and it's crazy that I felt that way. I read an article that those drugs might be getting a "Black Box" labeling on them making them the most "unsafe" prescriptions???

I also read an article stating that medical marijuana could help with ADD/ADHD because it could help relax the children...NOT smoking it of course because we all know that smoking anything is bad for anyone, but maybe putting it in their foods or drink. So my questions are, How do you feel about the usual ADD/ADHD drugs? Would you rather have a safer drug for you child to take? Would you rather them take stimulants like adderall, ritalin, concerta? or medical marijuana or what?

I had an 'adhd' stepchild and no offense, but too many parents use add/adhd as an excuse. My stepdaughter just needed tons of POSITIVE attention, since all she got was negative. Parents who spend time with their children don't have any problems. They used my stepdaughter as a guinea pig for various meds (ritalin, concerta, adderall, etc) and she eventually had to be 'detoxed' due to the amount of drugs in her system. I don't agree with any of those drugs, they mess with a person's brain and mental abilities. My stepdau was smart, artistic, and in need of attention. Her mother was into drugs heavily and her father didn't know how to take care of her. She got tons of positive attention and affection when I came along, and got off the meds she didn't really need. Please think twice before putting your children on medications like those. It is better to take parenting classes and discipline classes than to mess their brains up. BTW, she's doing much better without the drugs.

Adderall i was on adderall for a long time and still need it to get through some of my college classes
Useing Marijuana will just get them addicted to it weather or not they smoke it so no about the marijuana
do another type like adderall or ritalin they are the best and i should know i was add and by fiance is adhd and our kid is super super adhd
