ADHD issue??? |
My brother has ADHD and he is a pretty small kid. The medicine he takes for his ADHD makes his appetite go down. So, we only give it to him every other day during the summer. Lately, it seems my parents have been letting him off the hook a LOT more than me. For example, the other day, I was watching T.V. when my mom comes in and says "While I'm gone, can you clean up the kitchen, your room and kind of pick up the living room?" I said yes, because I normally do that. Then, I realized my brother was in his room playing video games. When he plays them, he's in his own little world. Normally he doesn't have ANY chores. He's 8 (he'll be 9 in December) and he doesn't even clean his own room. I think that's a little unfair. I'm 11 (12 on July 30th :D) and I know there's a big age difference, but I feel that he should have more responsibilities! I've tried talking to my parents, but we end up fighting every time! I cry too. Does anyone agree with me?? Please Help! Plus, I feel that if he doesn't do SOME things now, he's never gonna learn... My brothers (I have 3- all younger!) all have some level of ADD or ADHD, and so do I. lol i have add and my bro has adhd so we both went thro the same probs as u did. the appetite prob but i on the other hand grew and the add went away now i take no meds! :D Lol. Well i don't think his ADHD is the reason. I'm 15 and i don't do any housework. My mum does all that. Occasionally with the help of my 20 year old brother ( Who also works 3 jobs ! ) hes only 8 but ya that is a little unfair i guess just keep doin wut u do cuz soon hell be get older and have to do the same stuff This is common, it may seem unfair, but just know that it won't be this way for long. Both my brother's and myself have ADHD and we all have been through the same situation. Especially the youngest since he is 10 years younger. I know it's hard, your family can be the hardest people to deal with, and there will be harder times. But, as part of a family there are ups and downs. I know how it is, when you talk to your parents they don't want to hear it, it's not because they don't care about you, it's because they don't understand this ADHD, and don't know what to do. Hang in there kid, it won't last long. |
