Question #1..SURVEY: Do you have a child that has been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD?

question #2...if yes, are they on medication?
question #3...was this child later found to have been "misdiagnosed"?

my daughter is doing her senior paper on the misdiagnoses of children and over use of medication. My son was misdiagnoesed with ADHD and treated with Ritlin, later it was found out that they misdiagnoesed him with "Conduct Disorder" and the Ritlin actually cause psychoses in him.

My 4th child-the youngest- was diagnosed with ADD. We worked on diet and behavior modification and that helped a little and I finally gave in and tried medication. We chose one that had a short life in the body and did not need to be taken every day. The difference in her grades was absolutely amazing! I have no doubt that in her case it was a correct diagnosis.
Now my son, on the other hand, was diagnosed with borderline ADD and while I could see the reasons they thought this, I did not allow medication and worked harder with him at home. He is now making a's and b's on his own and we are glad we did not medicate him.

It is so hard to know what is right to do and I feel terrible that your son had to go through this.

Yes I have a daughter with ADD. It took me 3 years to get her diagnosed. It took another 2 to get her on meds. The meds stopped working when she hit the 6th grade so the medication was stopped, She became depressed and ended up on the couch for a year curled up on a ball.
Mood swings, poor eating and sleeping habits.
One Psychologist said she was playing me for a fool, yet he diagnosed her with "School Phobia" another Psychologist diagnosed her with moderate to sever depression.
Put her on Prozac which worked for awhile then stopped working. She went back on her ADD meds. I had her placed in Independent Study and she is now a straight A student

Most of the time this whole ADD thing is about a childs diet. Cut the sugar out, especially the fabricated ones.

Sometimes ADD is about a lack of creative outlet. Maybe insert classes surrounding art, into the child's daily routine. ADD and ADHD are often little genius that we try to 'fix' by medicating.

Imagine if Motzart had been medicated as a child....

nope but my best friend is. she is still great in school and takes medication. but she does not in the summer. she is also over excited when it comes to really nothing......

no it is 4 sure she does have ADD OR ADHD(not really aure which...)(or if both...)
