Recently got prescribed Concerta for ADHD, would it be ok for me to take a few before I start a paper?

I took 36 MG this morning, but right now I am having a hard time organizing my thoughts and starting this paper. Would it be ok, or no?

No.

Concerta is a prescription medication for a reason- and what you are describing can quickly turn into substance abuse. You should only take your medication as prescribed by your doctor. If it is not doing its job correctly, contact the doctor for new dosage instructions if neccessary- do not alter the dose on your own.

If you are having a hard time organizing your thoughts and starting your paper, you are experiencing a problem that all normal people experience too. It is a lack of motivation and organization- and it is not something that should be medicated.
Take a walk, and stretch and take a break for 10 minutes, then get a glass of water or coffee or something, and start again. Start with an outline, because it's always helpful to have an outline to help you organize your thoughts into.

The problem with giving yourself an extra dose or three of concerta is that you do not know its toxicity levels, and your dose is already over the recommended amount that the drug information indicates for someone new to methylphenidate type medications (Ritalin, Concerta, etc.). The dose instructions for someone who was previous on ritalin, indicate that you should be at this 36mg once daily.

Concerta is extended release so you won't get any sudden burst of concentration power. You will be up for a long time though.
