I burn myself with hot cooking grease...first aid help...? |
yesterday i was frying pork chop in canola oil n grease pop up n hit me in the forearm. i runn it under cold water cuz it BURNS. but today there a dark spot (i'm black, it darker then my skin) there and it rough. it still hurt. how i can help this burn along. For serious burns NEVER put cold water. Even cool water isnt advisable. You should purchase a good burn cream and keep it around the house. You can get it at any pharmacy, like at walmart or cvs, etc. I burned my hand once so badly I couldnt sleep for two days. All you can do is dress it with the burn cream/gel. Also, dont put anything greasy like antibiotic ointment on a burn. This will hold the heat in and make matters worse. When it begins to calm you can try to put cocoa butter on it. Also, if you can get an aloe leaf/plant and take out the gel it will make a good ointment. If a small blister forms just keep it protected. The fluid will reabsorb. If a big one forms you may have to gently pop the base with a sterile pin and slowly push out the fluid. Go to a doctor if you have any trouble. Because you have dark skin the discoloration will take a while to go away but if you use the aloe and cocoa butter it will hardly be noticible in a couple months. go to webmd.com www.webmd.com Burn cream. Get off the computer, go to the store and ask. Aloe Vera gel would be good, keep applying it throughout the day. Go and get a cream which is used to treat burns. If you have an aloe vera plant, break of one of the stems and apply the liquid inside to the burn. If you don't have a plant, go to the store and buy aloe vera gel. I put it in the refrigerator and when it is cool it feels really good on a burn. |
