If you have AIDS how do you die?

sorry to have to ask this but it's for my homework? how do people who have AIDS die? i don't want how long it takes or anything i want how they die! can they die in their sleep?

Usually slowly and badly. In its final stages, the AIDS patient cannot fight off infection, and that's often what kills him/her.

People with AIDS are extremely vulnerable to infection, called AIDS defining illnesses, and often exhibit the following conditions:

* Kaposi's sarcoma, a skin tumor that looks like dark purple blotches.
* Mental changes and headaches due to fungal infections or tumors in the brain and spinal cord.
* Shortness of breath and difficulty breathing due to infections of the lungs.
* Dementia.
* Severe malnutrition.
* Chronic diarrhea.

aids patients don't die from aids directly, what hiv/aids does is destroy your inmune system, specially a type of cells called lynphocite T CD4+ (LTCDA+), cause they have a recepctor (CD4) that the virus uses to get inside the cell.-
they don't die innmediately after getting the infection, this disease can be divided in three states
1. primoinfection, when you first get the virus, that causes mild symptoms, that can be confused with flu.-
2. window period, where the disease doesn't cause any clinic symptoms, but slowly destroys the inmmune system.-
3.aids, a patient is in aids state when his/her LTCD4+ count is lower than 200/mlof blood and/or when tha patient suffers al least of one of the called opportunistic diseases (rare tipes of cancer, uncommon bacterial and fungus infections), that normally don't cause disease in inmunocompetent patients cause their inmunne system handles them.-
so, this diseases are the ones that causes the death of aids patients.-
the window period can be prolonged (and with this the patient's life) with antiretroviral medicine.-

some of the opportunistic diseases are tb, brain toxoplasmosis, neumonia caused by neumocystis carrinni or jyroveci, kaposi's sarcoma,diarrhea caused by criptosporidim parvum or issospora belli.-
and of course other diseases that also affect inmunocompetent people are more severe in inmunocompromised patients.-

AIDS affects the immune system, therefore its very common for people with AIDS to die of simple illnesses like cold and flu. The number 1 killer in the world of people who have AIDS is TB.

Well AIDS affects the immune system, so somebody with AIDS is most likely to die from a simple illness-a cold, the flu, etc.

People who have AIDS die of an infection that takes over their weakened immune system.
