What connections can be made between the black death and the AIDS epidemic?

Almost None...

-AIDS is a virus
-It is sexually transmitted
-The fatalities cause by aids are not a result of the actual infection itself
-It covers a much broader range of the globe
-etc..

The black plague was a sickness that could easily be cured today with simple antibiotics, the effects were far quicker and more devestating, it was a isolated incedent in comparison to the aids epidemic.

One connection I can think of is that the plague at the time was uncurable, and these days AIDS is uncurable. Perhaps 100's of years in the future we will look back and say, wow, it would have been so easy to cure aids back then.

Only one that I know of. Aids destroys the immune system making you more susceptible to any conceivable infection, including bubonic plague.
