Received financial aid check... now what?

I finally received my private student loan check from Chase. However, I ended up borrowing an extra $900 because my insurance fee was waived at the last minute.
What do I do with the check? (it's in my name) I'm guessing I deposit it in my bank account and then write a check out to the school. However, what do I do with the extra money? Do I give it all to the school so they can put the extra towards my tuition next year?

Deposit it into your bank account. If someone else's name is on the check (your cosigner) be sure they also sign the check to or the bank won't let you deposit it. Pay your balance off at the school. Yes, you can save that money for next semester. If you ave a large amount left over, consider paying down your loan a bit. The interest rate is twice normal student loans and every day, money is being added to the principal amount you owe. Also be aware. you will get another financial aid check in January for the spring semester, and like this amount, you will have to eventually pay that back too. See how fast your loan debt is adding up?

Private loans are evil.

Deposit the check for your tuition next year so that the interest will grow for future use. Write a Thank You Letter to your Good Samaritan Sponsor. Then inform him/her that you deposited the check.
Good luck and GOD BLESS THE CHILD.

i would call financial aid and see what they suggest...im not sure if they can pre-pay ur tuition but if they can thats wat i wud do..this way its taken care of
