Should America send so much foreign aid? |
The American government sends an astronomical amount of taxpayer money as foreign aid to many countries. These include billions to countries that harbor terrorists such as Pakistan, or hate Americans such as Indonesia. Yet the government has trouble helping Americans with health care costs, improving education, or taking care of its own veterans. Is this right? Do you agree with this? The USA should recall and stop all foreign aid. This has made millionaires out of many Dictators through the years. Then we should only send food and medicine to Countries that support the USA and believe in Freedom for its people and a democracy for its Government. We are being killed daily by weapons we furnish to the assassins. We need to make sure our front porch is clean before cleaning others. Israel gets most of it....go figure. Its ok to help There ought to be strings attached to the foreign aid. If the country is hostile to us they get nothing. Now tell me what's wrong with that. Or if they harbor terrorist, nothing. Sell weapons to our enemies, nothing. We need to at least attempt to use this money to our advantage. No it is not right. Our government often operates under the delusion that if we help others out they will become "beholden" to us. This is a seriously flawed theory and often is dictated by big business. I think it is wrong as long as we have a defecit. The government is so corrupt and immoral about overspending. The idea makes sense as 18,000 kids die of hunger a day and this aid helps them and further the U.S. influence for countries to support freedom. Socialism and communism is behind these kids dying and aid helps persuade countries to consider freedom and capitalism that creates jobs to provide food. E.g., Venezuala is moving into deeper poverty as Chavez builds Cuban style communism; oil production is down 25% since he took over. So the idea is better than other spending if the U.S. can ever reduce other spending in order to balance the books. Probably will never happen so all aid should be cut off. |
