Do you know anything about Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress? |
My friend has her BA in Spanish with a 2.3 GPA, & her GPA started all over again back to 0 since she's classified as a 2nd Bachelor's-seeking student & a 5th-year Senior. So she completed the summer semester & got an overall GPA of 1.5. Since she got her degree & is starting all over again, would she not be eligible for Financial Aid or would she be on probation? The SAP says you have to have a 2.0, but I'm not sure what's gonna happen to her. She's very worried. Many schools don't give financial aid to 2nd bacc's at ALL. She'll have to just call the financial aid office. I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but she unfortunately would jeopardize any scholarships that she may have through the school because of her GPA (since a lot of scholarships through institutions require at least a 2.0). Now, that's just for institution aid. She still has hope for federal aid. She would need to talk to her financial aid department to find out what scholarships/aid would be jeopardized by not meeting the GPA requirements. So all hope is not lost. I answered your friends wuestion, and as I told her get off Yahoo answers and go right to the source the school and view thier SAP policy and ask what will happen. It is unlikely that she would be disqualified forever, and based on her question it sounds like she has grounds to appeal any SAP disqualification. |
