Could i fill out financial aid by myself? |
i am 20 years old and i am applying for financial aid i live on my own and i don't associate with my foster mother anymore during the process it asks questions for the parents. do i fill it out or do i have to try to find my foster mother (by the way my biological parents are deceased) You can fill them out on your own. I would suggest going through the Enrollment Counselor at the school in which you have an interest in attending. They will help you fill out the FAFSA paperwork, as well as any other paperwork to help you get the support you need to attend their school. They might also be aware of any scholarships or grants for which you might be entitled or eligible to receive. If you were adopted by your foster mother than she must complete the application with you. If she did not adopt you then when completing the application you can mark 'yes' to the question ' are both of your parents deceased.' If you complete the application on line at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov it will automatically skip all questions that you don't have to answer. Be prepared to present death certificates to the financial aid office when they ask for them, because odds are they will. Since your biological parents are deceased, you are considered independent. http://studentaid.ed.gov/students/public... So, I don't see why you need your foster parent's tax information. You are considered an independent student. Please read the FAFSA qualifications of what they consider an independent student. yes you can. just get a note from a lawyer or another official person stating that y'all have terminated ur relationship and she does not provide for u financially. also be sure that she isnt claiming you as a dependent on her taxes. |
