What do i need to do to get financial aid for college? |
what do i need to do and when? please answer, thanks! If you are planning to go this fall, you need to fill out your paperwork ASAP. You need to fill out a FAFSA which you can do at the link below. It will want income, tax info, school information and so on. You will also need parent information if you are under 24 and still dependent on your parents. Follow the steps off the main site and apply for your pin, when you get it you can fill out your information. Source(s): http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ Go to the admissions department at the school you want to go to. If they don;t have one you need to fill out a FAFSA. You can do it online. Good luck! To receive financial aid for college.. well you'll be eligible for many scholarships/grants based on your SAT and ACT scores, grades, volunteer involvement, extracurricular activities, etc. So, I suggest that you focus on those this upcoming school year. You're not ready to fill out a FAFSA yet. You do that towards the middle of your senior year in high school. Right now, you can begin searching for scholarships online. You can try the following websites. But, let me tell you, to receive scholarships is very difficult. Most of them require you to be needy and write an essay. Use these websites as guides. - Fastweb.com - Scholarshipexperts.com - Scholarships.com - Brokescholar.com - Petersons.com There are more. You just have to find them. Use a search engine or something. Don't worry too much right now though. If you have good grades, usually your university, once you get accepted, will offer you scholarships. just go see the admissions office at the college they will give you all the information that you need! Here are the steps you need to take: 1. Fill out the FAFSA before your January of your senior year in high school. You can find it here: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ 2. Once you qualify for financial aid, choose a student loan. The best student loan to get is the Federal Perkins Loan. It is offered by the government and has the lowest interest rate, so it's the cheapest to pay back. Plus, the government will pay off your interest as long as you stay enrolled in school. Go here for more info: http://www.studentfinancedomain.com/stud... 4. You can also try for free grants and scholarships. Here are some good sites: http://www.fedmoney.org/ http://apps.collegeboard.com/cbsearch_ss... http://www.freegovmoney.net/ http://www.fastweb.com/ Good luck! http://www.studentfinancedomain.com... |
