Aid to help elderly get in and out of car? |
My mum's arthritis is making it difficult for her to get in and out of the car. I have seen these cloth-type swivel things - a bit like a lazy susan, that you put on the car seat and helps them swing themselves into the car. Any idea where I can get one online please? Live in UK. They are sold in our local "Mobility" shop (a small Town) and they were sold in the Keep Able store at Merry Hill. Try Googling in "Keep Able" or "Mobility" and see what comes up. They are often advertised in the small advertisement papers which come through our letter box, too. Until you get one, help Mum to get out. Keep her feet together and you swing her feet round to the floor (so that she is swivelling on the car seat). Then she uses one hand on the car door and one on the pillar to push herself up, while you give a little bit of extra lift - one hand braced on the car roof the other linked under her left arm pit. Found this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/deluxe-revolving-c... otherwise many towns have disability aid shops where you can get advice. I'm not sure aboout online...but check with a medical supply place in your area...you can find them in the directory The betterware catalogue and mobility shops. hi there, i think you are talking about a sliding sheet, you can buy them at jamesspencer online, not entirley sure about the correct web address, but a search will find it for you, glxx I think Age Concern have a web site with info you need if not ring them for info they are very helpful. |
