When you get AIDS how long do you have left to live?

Having worked in the HIV/AIDS commuity for oh about 15 years, I know people that have been living with AIDS since 1982.
So much depends on attitude, how you take care of your body, practicing safe sex, your medication regime, etc.
We come a long way in our treatment of AIDS. When I first started working in the field people would get diagnosed and be dead in a month. My dead file was longer than my living.
Now a days, its considered a chronic illness. People live long and prosperous lives. Many do not even convert to AIDS, staying HIV positive.
That doesn't mean you should be unsafe. Use a condom if a guy, girls make sure they're using them. we are each responsible for our own safety.

well, i don't know a lot of about aids, but here is what i think...

- it would depend on if you took your meds or not
- whether you caught other illnesses as well
The drugs now days keep you alive longer and longer. Personally, I have no clue. But I suspect you can live a long and happy live. The average person doesn't even live that long these days.
Well i kno u get HIV first and thats wit u for about 7-10 years,and then u get Aids, it all depends tho, becuz they now have medication out there that can keep u to living longer, it aint gonna cure the disease but will keep ya to living longer.
it /depends/on/ other infections/ you acquire/ also /if /you stay/ on meds/ as directed/
You can live a long life with HIV, but once it transforms into AIDS.................

theres no definite answer to that. when its time to go , its time to go.. it could be 5 years could be 30 years from the time you were diagnosed, the best thing to do is to keep up treatment and a postitive attitude ..our immune system will take a beating ..imperative that you keep up treatments.
