Modifying my question. I'm looking for yoga positions that obese people can do that will aid weight loss.?

I believe that I can get my obese loved ones to do yoga for the health benefits if I can find positions that they can do. One of the people I am trying to help is over 50 yrs old and over 100 pounds over weight. Her physical ability is such that she cannot do the things that I could do at that beginning. I am looking for a way to get her started.

put her in an easy position and start with let her think of exercise you would give her
I dont see how yoga can help with burning fat.

swimming, running or even walking would be better. dont get me wrong, i love yoga, i just dont think its the best contributer to weight loss.
yoga can help with fat loss for many reasons so you're doing your friend a great favor. I would recommend buying some beginners books and dvd's...doing even the most basic poses with good breathing can make a huge difference. The progress is slow but I lost 40 lbs and have kept it off for years. Good luck!
Try Gentle Yoga for Beginners. You can find it on Amazon. Or, go to your local library and check out some of the dvd's that they have on yoga.
