If there was an employee accident in the workplace, would you call your designated First Aid person first? |
Or would you try to help them yourself if you felt it was something you were able to deal with? I would ask some one to call the First Aid person and stay with the employee, depending on the situation I would never leave the employee as I have some First Aid skills but not a registered First Aider with the company... It would depend which one of the First Aiders was on duty to be honest, I don't rate a couple of them and a few others I wouldn't want touching me. I would obviously do as much as my basic first aid training allows and then call or send someone for first aid. call the first aid person because if you tried to help and made things worse you would be liable The correct thing to do is call first aid person but unfortunatly I have this crazy belief that I can handle any situation So basicaly I'd try my best to be of assistance on my own Difficult to answer as we all carry walkie talkie type radios - so I could do both at once. I wouldn't wait to start CPR if required though. help them myself first thing i would suggest you do is send for the first aider and first aid kit. then you can help the first aider. in my case i would deal with the situation as i am a first aider in work. in fact i do first aid on a regular bases, i am active member of St John Ambulance Brigade and out on duty regularly |
