How about a war against Aids? |
Since Libs are hell bent on Socialized medicine, if this was to happen, could we declare war on aids, cancer and other un stoppable diseases? AND actually get results? Oh wait, you wouldn't want to go to war with someone or something now...would we. "Unstoppable [sp.] diseases...", well, science continues to create treatments and medications that prove successful against disease. Cancer treatments have continued to show incredible results. Many forms of cancers are now treated giving rates of success unheard of a generation ago. Aids has treatments with very positive results, in fact, the mortality rates of aids victims has declined 10 fold the last 20 years. I think a determined war against disease has been waging quietly by medical professionals for quite some time now. Fortunately we do not require inflated patriotic rhetoric to wage such battles in the medical community. Gosh!!! You are sooooo clever! Can I be your friend? Why be such a troll about things? Why? Yes, we could "declare war" on AIDS. Stop trying to bait people all the time. Sure, war on AIDS is a great idea! Let's start by pressing our representatives to vote yes on an upcoming amendment that will allow a future president to waive the ridiculous 'abstinence only' provision in HIV/AIDS prevention funding, here and abroad. You on board for that? Or do you think non-medical personnel should be able to ban illustrations showing proper condom use as obscene? Condom Wars: New guidelines gut HIV prevention 鈥?and endanger young people鈥檚 lives http://www.laweekly.com/news/news/condom... "War on ..." is not about solving it any problem, it is just a catchy name to make people emotional and support it without thinking about the real issues. It is a PR campaign, not a solution. Proven by the 'war on drugs' which has helped make the major drugs cheaper and easier to find, while completely allowing alcohol which causes the most deaths and accidents for teens who are the one of the main groups we're supposedly trying to reach with the 'war on drugs' The 'war on terror' is no different. It is more hype than it is action. The point is to scare us into accepting whatever they say. We need to not make aids prevention and care into a catch phrase, we need to actually attack the problem. I thought Bono was already in charge of this. |
