Do You Agree We Should Cut aid to illegal immigrant havens ?

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney proposed today cutting federal funding to cities that invite illegal immigrants, an indirect jab at his opponent former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

"There are some cities in this country that have said, we're calling ourselves a sanctuary city, we're going to call ourselves a city where our city employees will not look into someone's illegal status, will not notify the federal government that someone's here illegally," Romney told more than 100 central Iowans in Urbandale this morning.

"We send hundreds of millions of dollars to these cities, even billions of dollars, from the federal government," the former Massachusetts governor said during a question-and-answer session at the Iowa Machine Shed restaurant. "We ought to stop doing that."

Immigration is a hot issue in the Republican presidential campaign, with many conservatives in Iowa, the leadoff caucus state, angry with the Bush administration's attempt to change federal law to allow illegal immigrants to stay in the country.

Romney has in the past tied Giuliani to New York's status as a sanctuary city, although he did not mention Giuliani during his remarks today.

Romney was scheduled to be a guest on WHO Radio's Jan Mickelson show in Des Moines today and attend private meetings with Republican activists.

Romney plans to make a late morning speech Friday to the Bull Moose Club in Des Moines. Of course this should be the case. This is a no brainer. Should not even have to opened up for discussion. My God we are supposed to be a nation of laws yet we have cities that want to pick and choose which laws they are going to follow.
This proposal has come up several times and the Dems have overwhelmingly voted against it.
Try declaring your city sanctuary against "civil rights" and see how fast they cut off funds and send in the National Guard.

Absolutely.these haven cities should not get funding of any tax dollars as they are defyng the law and supporting terrorism by allowing illegals to feel at ease and welcome.How many unidentified muslim lunatics and hispano-trash gangsters do you suppose live w/o fear of discovery in these places?
Until these cities change their policies not 1 more tax dollar,and that includes state taxes also,should be spent on
these terrorist breeding grounds within our midst.
