34 Weeks, Back Pain, Scoliosis, Acupuncture, HELP!?

Hi everyone, maybe some one can help me!!! I have scoliosis and since I have been pregnant I haven't gone to my chiropractor, so my pain is horrible. When I lay flat on the floor the pain is even more sever. Anyone have any idea's on how to deal? I actually scheduled a acupuncture session ( at the Pacific Oriental College, I'm broke and they are only about $30 compared to the normal $60-100!), does anyone know if it relieves any pain while pregnant? I take Tylenol once in a blue moon, but I don't really like medication of any kind, and I don't want to be taking it every day, I don't wanna hurt my boy! Any suggestions on relieving back pain (especially lower) is welcomed! Also, I have been doing yoga and it really hasn't been doing so much...downward dog helps for the moment, but ya know, it doesn't stick!

Make an appointment with your chiropractor. It's perfectly safe and helps so much. Just ask if he/she works on pregnant women. If not ask for a referral.

I have been going since 12wks and feel so much better. I also have mild scoliosis.

Having your back and hips out of alignment will actually make your labor harder. Having everything in place makes more room for your baby to get out.

my hips are horrible. if i lay on the floor i'm in extreme pain and can't move or anything its horrible and if i lay on my side which i have to almost being 37 weeks pregnant to sleep i wake up with the feeling that my hips are being ripped outta me. what i have found that helps me is alot of pillows i dunno if it will help you or not but i've had this pain since before i was pregnant since i had my daughter back in feb 07.

scoliosis sucks....
i know a person in my family that has it.
there really isnt no one out there that can do anything for you if you have that other than i chiropractor.
i know being pregnant makes it 2x worse.
but the only thing i would suggest that would come to my head would be to go and get a massage from a pre-natal practicioner

there are chiropractors that specialize in pregnant women - with special tables and everything. As far along as you are, Tylenol won't hurt the baby.

I had absolutely no benefit from acupuncture, but everyone's situation is different.

I'd try pool exercises (which would feel good even without the scoliosis). One thing that feels really good is to get into the deep end, have two or three "noodles", and just hang there. While you have the noodles, doing bicycles, sisors, and "cross country" leg exercises are good for building strength which helps your lower back. Walking in the pool, side-to-side, along with a few more exercises would probably make you feel good, at least for awhile.

Chiropractors, message therapists, acupuncturists, etc., can't fix scoliosis. These people adjust the soft, connective tissues and that may (or may not, you can't tell ahead of time) make you feel better, but remember, scoliosis is not a connective tissue disease.

I'd suggest talking to your doctor to see if you have any other pain management options, especially ones that won't hurt the baby.
