For someone that has Carpal Tunnel and is having treatment done at a pain clinic doing acupuncture how...?

many times do you need to have it to be better as no more pain and no more tingling?

an infinite number of times since it will make no difference. The only difference will be the persons wallet will be much lighter.

Actually there is no clinical evidence to suggest that acupuncture is any more effective than placebo or 'sham acupuncture' at alleviating carpal tunnel pain.

Acupuncture doesn't treat the underlying cause of carpal tunnel syndrome anyway so it would have to be a never ending series of visits since it won't 'cure' carpal tunnel even if it provides a temporary relief of the pain.

If the pain and tingling is very bad a doctor should be consulted. There are proven treatments for this condition.

If your Carpal Tunnel just started, try using hot wax therapy first. Buy a hot wax dipping pan, you can find them on the web, be sure to get one that is big enough to fit your pain area, leave the wax heated during the treatment period, dip your hurt hand or arm every night before bed, you would see a huge improvement. I personally know someone who had CT bothering him for quite some time, and completely got rid of it after using hot wax dip for a month.

I would recommend seeing a sports massage therapist to apply pressure to your carpels while extending and flexing your fingers to stretch the tunnels to relieve the pressure from the inflamation so the swelling can be relieved and return to normal :)

Many different answers, huh? Let me add one more.

I have found that Carpal Tunnel is the end result, not a symptom or a cause to be treated (by surgery if you are a doctor). It is the end result of muscle imbalances in the neck and shoulders, generally the Sternocleidomastoids, deltoids, and the rotator cuff muscles. When these muscles are not working properly, the muscles in the rest of the arm MUST take over and do their work. That is just how the body works. Seeing an experienced Massage Therapist will help PREVENT carpal tunnel syndrome. Also, a Chiropractor that is trained in Kinesiology will also be able to fix this, as they, too, work with muscle imbalances. I know this from experience. Once you have it, it will take lots and lots of rest (months?!), along with strengthening the above mentioned muscles. Or you can get surgery to open up the nerve tunnel and remove the irritated nerve. Unless the original cause is treated, you will get Carpal Tunnel again and again until you can no longer use your hand and you are on disability. (again, experience with this in my family). I have had patients come to me that have tried acupuncture with no results, but after seeing me, they are better in a matter of a few sessions. But don't wait for the damage to escalate, because then you are expecting a miracle from your bodyworker and that just isn't fair.
