What should I expect from my first acupuncture session?

and what should I expect to pay?

It depends where you live, what accupunturist you are seeing and what type of accupunture your getting.
There are three types of accupunture that i know of one is the needles, one with a laser and one with electromagnets. I have had experience with the last 2 and can safely say they dont hurt at all. I dont think the needles hurt either but everyone is different. Bascially they will stick the needle or laser onto your meridian points and will leave it there for a required amount of time. Its quite relaxing and you should try and visualise healing and positve thoughts through your session. I live in melbourne australia and i know here accupunture can range from $20-$80 per consultation. I am fairly sure the needles are the cheapest and the laser is the most expensive. The treatment process of accupunture is usually quite slow but well worth it! Accupunture aims to cure the body, mind and spirit and not just the symptoms associated with disease. Its great for relaxation and to boost immunity. It can be expensive though, just shop around and find a doctor you relate to and charges a reasonable amount for their services. Good Luck!
