Is it possible to balance spleen energy without acupuncture?

Is it possible to balance spleen energy without acupuncture? If so how do I do it? Will balancing my spleen energy flatten my flabby, protuding stomach?

People need to realize when we are talking about the Chinese medicine concept of the Spleen organ energetics and function, we are not referring to the modern physiology and function.

Balancing the Yin Qi and Yang Qi of the Spleen can be done without acupuncture. There are Chinese herbal formulas designed to nourish and tonify the Spleen. More importantly, we can address the causes of Spleen vacuity through diet, proper rest, and proper exercise.

Healing with Whole Foods, by Paul Pitchford, is an excellent book on Chinese medicine dietary concepts, as well as, a good source for nutritional data on the macro and micro nutrients the body uses.

Balancing the Spleen is by no means a "get slim quick and easy" solution. Those only exist in infomercials. If you are in the USA, visit http://www.nccaom.org to find a qualified acupuncturist in your area to discuss how Chinese medicine can be utilized in reaching your health goal.

If you wish to go through a route outside of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the type of diagnosis is likely to be different. In Western Medicine, the spleen is not recognized to have anything to do with balance of vital energy (qi), but rather with production of blood solids such as mitochondria and its role in the immune system.
This being said, if you are experiencing a protruding belly, Western medicine is likely to recommend a change in diet. Probably less processed white starches, less fat and more fiber and lean protein. Also, adequate exercise will probably produce further health benefits.
This is not opposed to TCM in that it is often the case that food is the best tonic. A healthy balanced diet is the best way to maintain general well-being, whether you subscribe to traditional medicine or evidence based medicine.

Hi Bosie How are you. Yes I do it is called Acupressure it is the same acupuncture but it is without needles another is trigger point therapy it can do the same. Have you done shaitsu it works to Know because I james did the training on that two years ago. And getting a massage on a reg. basic it can balance your spleen and more it will make you healther to. James P.

Your spleen does not HAVE any "energy" that might need "balancing". The entire concept is utter nonsense.

If you want to flatten your stomach, lose weight and try doing some exercises to tone up the underlying muscles.
