I am thinking of getting my boyfriend to do acupuncture on my bad back?

however i am told this could be dangerous because if he pushes the needle too far into my spinal cord i could be paralysed is this true?

If you're thinking of acupuncture, you're better off going to a qualified specialist. Do you really think that having someone who doesn't know what they're doing pushing needles into you is a good idea?

It's best for you to go to a specialist in the field of acupuncture. As lovely as it would be for your boyfriend to be able to heal your back it would be especially unpleasant for you both if something went wrong and he were to actually harm your back.

The back is particularly complex and quite delicate, it wouldn't be right for your boyfriend to assume responsibility in this case. If you want for him to be involved let him take some classes or read some books on back massage. Take care, all the best.

Unless your boyfriend is a trained acupuncturist and has all the correct and sterile equipment at home (special needles are used for acupuncture) then i would say that its not a very good idea.

Why not get you boyfriend to give you a nice romantic back massage instead?

I am a student of acupuncture and let me assure you that a needle can not puncture your spinal cord. First of all, the needle is the width of a human hair and is just not strong enough to puncture your spinal cord. You have so many layers of tissue and bone it would be next to impossible. Please be sure that your boyfriend has the experience to perform a proper treatment and has been trained. Never let someone do acupuncture on you who does not have the proper training!

If your boyfriend is a qualified acupuncturist, go for it. If not, under no circumstances let him do it.

DO NOT EVEN THINK OF IT. Acupuncture is a highly skilled treatment, people must be trained to do it and have the correct equipment. You wouldn't want him to take a tooth out or stitch a cut. If you have a bad back see a chiropractor or some other qualified professional.
