Has anyone tried acupuncture for depression? How did it go and how many sessions did you need?

Has anyone tried acupuncture for depression? How did it go and how many sessions did you need?

I had about 10 sessions, (twice a week) and even after the first session, I felt a weight had started to lift from my shoulders. By the last session I felt like a new person- stronger, balanced, calm.

My acupuncturist also suggested lifestyle changes- quitting sugar, eating better, exercising, cutting caffeine, etc. so these changes played a big role.

Acupuncture stimulates the endorphins, which are the 'feel good' chemicals in the brain. If you don't find relief with acupuncture, try the program found in The Mood Cure

wow I have never heard such bad advice. A placebo won't work if you know you are taking it.
I have a depression problem but don't like to take antidepressants because they make me not exactly happy, sad or anything...I feel blah.
I found that meditation helps for me and many others. The technique I use is called mindful meditation and it seems like you aren't really doing anthying but when you practice for 20min everyday it works. I would recommend buying a book by Alan d Wallace, Genuine Happiness.
Although i still do get depressed, each relapse is less severe than the previous one.

I've had accupuncture for anxiety which seems to go hand in hand with depression for so many people. It calms me really well if the acupuncturist is good.
Violet pearl just recomended lifestyle changes. Yes that's good. Sometimes just changing diet can help lift our depression.
Yoga classes and yoga lifestyle are my main belief for my anxiety/depression. And reading inspiring books.
Good luck.

...Your better off taking a Placebo or going to a masseuse on a regular basis! Why waste money on some person sticking needles in you...get some pills for depression.
