Acupuncture & Religion?

My dad says that acupuncture might be a bad alternative because it might have something religious similar to yoga like 'ascending' and such. My family and I are Christians and since everything else I have tried to help get rid of my IBS (Irritable Bowl Syndrome) has done basically nothing I read around about acupuncture helping a LOT for people with IBS. So my questions are:

What ARE the procedures for Acupuncture?

Does it AFFECT religiously?

This has nothing to do with what I asked but here is a link for a GREAT website for people who like to play games and have fun. There is NO language or anything and if there is on the site the person's account would be FREEZED. It is a FREE website for everyone of all ages!

I've heard good things about acupuncture for IBS, but it won't work for everyone and it's not going to be a miracle cure. In itself, it's not a religion, but if you feel it goes against your/your father's beliefs, that's something that the two of you will have to come to deals with and assess accordingly. Maybe talking to your church about it would put your mind at ease.

Acupuncture is not a religion, it is an alternative therapy based on the principles of eastern medicine. Acupuncture is helpful for many chronic conditions. I tried acupuncture for my chronic back pain and it did wonders. And no, it didn't make me run off and join a cult or shave my head or anything (LOL) so tell your dad not to worry.

Acupuncture involves inserting very small needles into certain points in the body. Where the needles are inserted, how long they stay in, and how many are used depends upon the condition being treated. During your first appointment, a good acupuncturist will ask you lots and lots of questions about your general health, diet, exercise, stress levels, etc. Make sure your acupuncturist is licensed.

Acupuncture scares many people because needles are involved. But truly, they are tiny and you barely feel anything when they are placed. Really. A good acupuncture practitioner will talk you through the process to help you relax and not get all stressed out about things.

I truly suggest you try it. It's simple and has no side effects (can't say that about a lot of medications, can you?). Good luck to you.

Acupuncture has no religion tied to it. The ideas and theory for most acupuncture does some out of Taoism, however that doesn't mean one has to be a Taoist to practice or to receive acupuncture.
Nor does acupuncture focus on an awakened state.

One could make an argument that since some aspects of acupuncture have not been scientifically proven that it does effect religiously as in a mind over matter way however there is research that presents that acupuncture does effect chemicals in the body as well as can increase the sanitation of relaxation.

The first link I provided is from the National Institute of Health if that helps any.

Acupuncture is not a form of religion. Just like Yoga it is a natural healing for the mind body or spirit.YOu wouldn't believe the effects yoga has on the human body and mind.I suggest you read up on both.If any one is willing to take drugs I should think they would explore the more down to earth things too.Neither ask you to join or believe any form of religion. It goes back years and has worked for so many people.

Ask your pastor or priest if acupuncture is against the church's beliefs. That way you will know for sure. I'm also a Christian, but I've never heard of that. Never thought to ask though.
