Does acupuncture actually work to induce labour?

I am 39 weeks pregnant and I just went in today for acupuncture to induce labour. I am -1 station, 1 cm dialated and 95% effaced. I was wondering if this actually works and if so, how long do you think it will be until I go into labour?

A friend of mine tried it and had her little boy within 24 hours.

I've heard it does. I was told to take a warm bath. you can make it hot.. and then when you start to sweat, that's when you get out. I was directed to do this from my doc, i went into labor about 15 seconds i got out of the tub... i wasn't dressed yet!
