Acupuncture? |
Does it work? Does anyone have an encouraging story to share? I have neck and back pain and have been to the chiropractors and orthopedic surgeons with no success. I have come to just not trust the medical field anymore. I am looking for other alternatives and have heard of acupuncture having rewarding outcomes. Please help. amen No way! Yes my martial arts teacher is an acupuncturist and my dad tried it! It does not hurt, and it really works he had back pain for years and he had it done and it so worked! If you're uncomfortable, try talking to one and they can help But it is effective! Good luck =] I just had it a few months ago, and I thought it was amazing. It was probably the most bizarre experience I've ever had, though, because it felt like I had a heating pad on my back where the needles were, but afterwards I felt SOO much better. Not painful at all, and I'm a huge weenie. Give it a shot, if it doesn't help, it certainly can't hurt! :) If you've tried everything else, then what have you got to lose. Give it a shot. I've tried it once, and it gave me a rush of good feeling, but it was no wonder cure. It didn't hurt or anything like that, but I did feel something (I think - anyway - it could have a been psychosymatically induced feeling - I'm not certain). But it wasn't so good that I rushed back again the next day for another treatment either. I have acupuncture pretty regularly . . .for upper back and neck problems. It works. I have used it for sinus problems too. Acupuncture needles have been approved by the FDA for use in "experimental therapy." (They would not go any further than that for fear of looking silly?) Acupuncture has been scientifically proven to be effective for many things. Skeptics don't like this, because they don't like the way it is "supposed" to work, i.e. the energy body and the flow of energy along the "meridians." They think it's a bunch of poppycock and they think any studies that prove it works must be flawed. I personally know many people who have been helped by acupuncture for back pain, arthritis, and other ailments. Even if it only works by way of the placebo effect, it works. If it works, it works. Acupuncture has been proven for thousands of years, so you're betting pretty safely when it comes to trying to relieve pain. If you're afraid of needles, try an alternative treatment, like cupping, or just simply take a week off to relax, and go to spa. |
