Acupuncture, does it work? |
I'm looking to get acupuncture and i need to know it it helped anyone out? It works for some things (mostly pain) and not for others. People have different reactions to it, as well. If any acupuncturist says he can cure serious diseases (like cancer), I'd be very wary. However, I go to an acupuncturist to control my migraines, and it works for me for that purpose. Yes, it does; it has such a noticable, discernable effect on me, that my wife has gotten it too. personal experience I think it depends on what you are going for. Acupuncture worked for me for a number of things... headaches, hormonal imbalances. It is the kind of therapy that helps your body to heal itself. Good luck! Absolutely, I think acupuncture can work as preventative medicine. Like anything else, though, it is not a magic bullet-- in order to really be effective it needs to be part of an overall healthy lifestyle. Also, if it is not practiced regularly on a lifelong basis, I doubt it could prevent or cure chronic conditions such as diabetes, cancer, etc. I live near a well-known acupuncture school and clinic and have several friends who study and teach there. Many people I know, including myself, have found great benefit from acupuncture. It has helped me with digestive troubles, ear infection, and skin problems. It has helped several friends I know recover from injuries and pain. It has helped my mom deal with major pain from a chronic hip problem, leading up to a major surgery. For sure, many people feel worse after trying acupuncture once, for the first time, especially if their bodies are pretty out of whack and they are generally unhealthy. But if you have the time and finances to invest in a long-term treatment plan, chances are it will benefit your overall well-being. friends, doctor, personal experience. Five Branches Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, http://www.fivebranches.edu/ It has worked for me for seasonal allergies for 3 years. I have severe hayfever that is not manageable with anti-histamines. It is like not having allergies at all. Quite awesome. However, it has not worked so well for some of my other problems. |
