Does acupuncture work?

Having been a medical therapist for many many years I was skeptical. However prior to a cervical laminectomy my pain was so bad that I couldn't function. I was taking too much pain medicine and it had stopped working anyway. Accupuncture cut down the pain to tolerable levels allowing me to think and function to some degree. Finally had the surgery and I am doing very well and I am med free now. I became a firm believer in the practice from that experience. One caveat. Please make sure the practitioner you choose is licensed in your state. They are schooled as intensely as physicians. Anyone can claim to be an acupuncturist. And yes bad practioners can really do bad things to you by their ignorance. Source(s): Personal experience
