Does acupuncture hurt? Is it worth it?

If the person you go to is certified, yes, it is very much worth it, and it doesn't hurt at all. It's a bit unnerving at first, but you really get a lot out of it. I went to one for chronic headaches, they cleared up after a few sessions.

I had it to quit smoking. I never felt a thing. The entire experience was pleaseant, and I neber had the urge to smoke again. So......worked for me.
The Chinese have been using this alternative form of treatment for thousands of years and have made amazing strides in treatment when conventional medication did nothing but treat the symptoms (not the underlying cause). My parents go weekly to an acupuncturist and swear by him. As for the pain factor, I've been told it can feel like nothing to small pin pricks however, there are occasions when a nerve is struck and a more intense pain may be briefly felt.
i had accumpture done one time to quit smoking....and i quit for a long while...but i think sticking needles in your brain is dangerous...i am not going to blame what is wrong with me on that sense i have had head trauma from my ex-husband ...but i am also smoking again also...all i can do is tell you my experience with it....so i do not think it was worth it to me....

The pins feel like slight bug bites going in. If they hurt more than that, the practitioner should remove that pin and try another area.

I am not sure if the actual acupuncture helped me or if it was that I just had to lie rock-still for about 20 or 25 minutes, something I'm normally unable to do. But it didn't help me in the long run. I just felt good the rest of that day.
