After acupuncture my hand is numb - is it normal?

Yesterday I had an acupuncture session. The doctor (skilled neurologists by the way) applied needles to four points in my body - the ones 10cm below my knees, and the ones between the thumb and the forefinger. When I woke up this morning, I feel that my left hand - just the hand - is a bit numb - not much, but anyway - all I wanted to ask you is to ensure if it is normal or if there is something wrong with me?

Sounds a bit like he went too deep and caused a bit of injury to a nerve. It should be short lived.
